Flag Wavin’

I recall seeing a picture of a little girl named “Starzanne Stipes” on her birthday in the Coshocton Tribune. (Coshocton, OH) How idiotic…I mean…patriotic!

-J.
Confirmed! I don’t know about anybody else, but now I absolutely cannot stop thinking about the Playboy Bunnies in “Apocalypse Now.” Our brave servicemen and women deserve Starzanne (whenever she turns legal) in a USO show!

Rambo: First Moonblood

Your site reminded me of visiting a baby-name site a couple years ago, which listed celeb kid names, and that I was appauled by one of Stallone’s kids’ name. I couldn’t remember what it was but I found the page again: Sage Moonblood (boy).

I don’t know how accurate all this is though, because it missed a couple of other of his other kids I saw listed elsewhere: Scarlette rose and….. (better be sitting down): Seargeoh. (Oh come on, a little more imagination
and it could have been surgiaux!)

Hungry like the Wolfa

Funny, funny site!  Here’s a few choice names I’ve encountered over the years:

I attended kindergarten with a boy named Ladarius, knew a girl named Redoika, and another named Duranda.

Had a classmate in high school called Gralonte

Have a cousin who named her baby Zimmy Elmira

Successfully dissuaded my sister-in-law from naming my niece Shayla (I played the stripper card…)

..and of course knew two boys (brothers) named Dru (not Drew) and Bruce … Dru Lee and Bruce Lee.

Hellbound Herring

I was reading the listing of bad baby names, and I did a double take when I saw this one Laken Makai. I’m sure this person didn’t know that Makai means “demon world” in Japanese, but it definitely made me laugh. Just thought you might like to add that tidbit to the entry.

Accepting Your Fate Gracefully

My fiance and I are thinking of names for our children already, and I think because of his last name, “Goodwillie” that my children are doomed.

I mean, how Does “Murdoc Mordicia Goodwillie” for a boy sound, or “Evelynn Madrun Goodwillie” sound for a girl? to strange, or just strang enough for them to like 70’s rock and goth poetry?

MincingItalianClown Akira Johnson

I personally like these names, but I’d love to hear what you’d say.

First is Harlequinn, youk now, after the Harlequinn Romance novels? Harley for short. ^_^

Second is my name, Ariel. I like my name enough, but I will NEVER ever forgive my mom after naming me after the Little Mermaid.

The last two would be Kenji, after an anime I watch, and Vash, from trigun.

I must be a nut, but my kid’s will ask me-
“Momma? Where’d you get my name from?”
“oh! Your named after a boy in a web-comic who was gay\A 19th centuary japanese character\ a fake armed blonde with a gun”

They are all good shows though. ^_^

Grease is Edword

A neighbor in an apt. complex we lived in about 4 years ago had a baby. They liked our son’s name (Drew Edward) yet, said they wanted something different. We agreed, the name was becoming very common since we chose it 20 years before.

Well, apparently I didn’t really *understand* what she meant by “different” until we got the birth announcement. the child was “uniquely” named:

Drioux Edword (yep, with an “o”)

yikes!

Marquis de Senate

A stranger in the Chicago train station nursing station once left her baby with me for well over 30 minutes while she went to go eat. The child’s name was pronounced “Ab-zuh-dee” and spelled Abcde. No lie. I teach first grade in the south and have seen plenty of unusual names but nothing beats this (alhough SirPresident and K’Marte come close).

Nay!

I have a friend who bought a foal and called her Dulcie Mae (pronounced Dolcie May) and then when his wife had a baby 3 months later, you guessed it, they named the baby after the foal. How cruel is that?

Rehybridizationalism

Anxious for more updates, so I thought I’d send you this gem I found on the Baby board at knot.com:

“I love the names Braedon and Caleb. My fiance and I have discussed Cayden, so it’s kind of a combo of the two. Aiden is nice, but getting overused. I’ve never been a big fan of Elliott or Cameron, but it’s your baby!!! YOU pick!! Good luck!”

Kind of a combo of the two – ya think??? 😉
