I’m Just a Bill

My to-be husband has a thing for “unique” names. He likes names such as “Veto” and “Enobi“. I like what I call “cool” names. Then names such as “Kiki” and “Jack”. We were having dissagrements with baby names till I smacked him upside the head and phrohibid him from naming my children.

Well, I phrohibid you from having kids at all.

Although, it is nice to know who originated the slang use of “cool” – it’s this lady! (“They’re what I like to call –big finger quotes– COOL names.”) And now we know she’s prone to violence against her fiance for wanting to name kids Veto so they can star in Schoolhouse Rock segments about the three branches of government!

Help me, Kobi-Wan Enobi, you’re our only hope!

There is nothing remotely cool about the name “Kiki”. It’s an awful name for a human, though a very good one for a monkey.

As for Enobi…that might be the worst thing you could possibly name your child. Have you ever heard of “My Immortal”? No, not the Evanescence song, but an infamous fanfiction named after it. Said piece of fiction starts off moderately bad and gets progressively worse (and more misspelled) as the story goes on, to the point that it becomes hard to believe that this isn’t being done deliberately, as a parody. And the main character’s name is Ebony Dark’ness Dementia Raven Way. (Like I said, over-the-top ridiculous.)

But due to part of the story’s “shtick” being the frequent spelling errors, even the main character’s name is often misspelled, most often as “Enoby” but sometimes also as “Eboby”. So obviously, naming an actual child “Enobi” would doom them to a life of “goffik” jokes, which might be the worst thing I can imagine for a kid.
