I got an e-mail on this one from a lady who met another woman with a girl named Emerson. It went predictably.

Mom: “…blah blah blah named Emerson.”
E-mailer: “That’s nice, like the poet?”
Mom: (blank stare)
E-mailer: “Like Ralph Waldo Emerson?”
Mom: (blank stare. Probably accompanied by sound of crickets.) “WHO???”
