ChupaChups New Spokesmen

I met a guy who worked as a holiday rep. He was english, as am i, His name was chompa and his brother who worked in the resort was called chimpa. I didn’t believe it either until i saw their passports!

Also i remember reading in the paper about a guy who named his kids fifa and uefa after football tournaments! (F.I.F.A and U.E.F.A!). It might have been better if the twins were boys not girls??

Advance, Ozzlynn Fair

Darn it, I wish I’d saved the announcement. I regularly browse my local paper’s births section looking for the worst name of the day. About a year ago, I saw one that has not been beat since…some fine folks named their daughter Ozzlynn. Why does that make me want to bite the head off a bat??

Unicorn Puke

From a blog today: “Infinite Skyy” for boy.

Mom is a sullen teenager who writes fantasy stories and really likes eyeliner.

Love love love your site. Sadly I have one of “those” names, regrettably given to me in the very early 70s but well meaning hippies. Your site lets me see how much worse it could have been.

Evildoers!

I’ve seen these two in a database at work that requires a birth certificate to register. So they’re real.

1. A baby girl named “Nemisis” (sic). I recommend “Archenemy” for a nickname, or perhaps “Archinimy”, to stick with the unique spelling scheme. And it seems mom’s trying to get pregnant again. My colleague suggested “Bane” for the younger sibling.

2. First name “Quntico”. I haven’t heard this one spoken, only seen it written down, so I can think of a couple of possible pronunciations. I hope it’s only a misspelling of Quantico, the US Marine Corps base/FBI HQ in Virginia. Because if it’s not, and the “Qu” takes the hard “K” sound, then, well, someone’s in for a rough childhood.

(Insert Cremation Joke Here)

I work at a small printing company in a small West Tennessee town. We often print obituary programs for the local black funeral homes. (As it is not the subject of this email, I will refrain from comment on the segregation-by-death issue.)

Many years ago (I believe it was the late 1980’s) I designed an obituary program for a man named (I swear this is true): Pilot Light.

Irylynd Stykes Byck

A friend of mine gave me the link to your site and the bad baby names page helped me to laugh away a bad morning, so thanks for that.

Firstly, I have to say, I was rather perturbed at the list of celtic-sounding names someone suggested on page 5, because my name actually is Róisín. I’m Irish (as in LIVE IN IRELAND) though, and it’s a very common (and traditional) name here, so it’s not so bad…I’m just quite disturbed at the idea of it being coupled with something like ‘Calaya’, which isn’t even a word, or ‘Fáinne’, which is the Irish word for ‘Ring’.

One of my contributions to your list comes courtesy of my friend Jack. He went to school in Camden in London, and knows a few people with truly bizarre names, like Merlyn Kingfisher Norton. Sadly, these two are people I know personally…my new baby cousin has been named Coty as in Coty L’Aimant (cheap perfume) and my neighbour’s daughter was named Shereene (prounouned Shareen). I also know of a lady from Belfast named Tamara Knight and a little boy who had the misfortune to be named the interesting combination Yehudi McGrath.

Oh dear.

Zero-Tolerance Sounds Good

Spotted this one today in a news story.

Ti’Juana (last name)

“Not every case is the same, so policies that do not consider all the factors are inappropriate,” Ti’Juana (last name), 16, told the board.”

Ok,naming your kid after a region which is most famous for getting American college kids drunk and live entertainment which features women having sex with domesticated animals is bad enough, but the superfluous apostrophe just takes the cake.

It Drips Down from North Carolina

I wanted to throw a couple names your way. There’s this girl who works at one of the grocery stores here (South Carolina) and her nametag says Trashia… I kid you not. I’m thinking it’s not pronounced how it’s spelt, they never are anyway. But just looking at it, what do you see? Trash… TRASH. Perhaps her mom couldn’t find a dumpster to put her in?

I grew up in Wisconsin and I went to school with some people who had very interesting names indeed. Here’s the worst of the them:

Cinder’ella (forget her last name)
Halania Jordan
I knew a GIRL named James (forget her last name too)
And then there was both Richard Whacker, and Richard Head.

Ow! My Cavities!

I have two (distant!) cousins, sisters in their late 40’s to early 50’s, named Sweetie Dove and Fanny Love. I kid you not.

Scream Doubt

I knew a girl in high school (not me! not me!) who got pregnant and her favorite name for a girl was… WHISPER HOPE. Can you imagine?! The good news is she had a boy! His name is not nearly as revolting… Tristan Nathaniel.

Thanks for all the laughs!
